Young life Africa children was started in 2003 with the sole purpose of helping street children and orphans realize their goal. The home current has 34 children, between the age of 5-18 years. The home is found in Kenya, Ruiru district, murera division. It is just 1.5 K.M, behind Kenyatta university Ruiru campus along the Thika super highway. We have achieve a lot since 2003 and all these we thank all our well wishers for their kind donations

Young life Africa children home started even before we opened our doors for the first bunch of our kids. We interacted with the street children and orphans in the community and tried the best we could to refer them to places they could get help. This was not easy and our first plan was to put up a shelter and accommodate, fed and educate these children. YOUNG LIFE GO GREEN CONCEPT
One of our main goasl as achildren center is to reduce expense as much as we can. We have worked towards being a self sustaining children program with little dependence on donor and well-wishers. One of the areas we have targeted is to invest in green energy. We want to teach our children with practical examples of how to conserve the environment. We have in the past initiated programs that target to conserve our environment which the children have been part of. Some of these programs include planting as many trees as we can and safe disposal of waste around our compound among others. This has inspired us on going green in everything we do around our home. That is why we want to acquire the following as part of “going green” initiative:-
1).Solar panels to generate our home electricity hence reducing electrical bill.
- 2).Biogas for cooking.
- 3)Solar driven irrigating pump for pumping water for irrigating our 3 acre farm which we have been planting food crops for the last three years. We want by the year 2014, our home food supply should entirely comefrom our 3 acre farm as we sell the surplus to supplement our home budget.
These areas we believe once we succeed, we will be able to reduce the home expense and concentrate on providing quality basic needs like food, clothing, shelter and education to our children.
